I just bought a laptop too,a lenovo x200 7459 ps9.
I need it in a bit of a hurry as i'm going on leave ths week and want to set it up then.I had the following purchase options:
1.Times square broadway:$10,000 list price - no discount for upfront payment cos i'm using the home and away voucher (it's an either or option)- $100 saturday spending rebate - $300 for having a home and away spending voucher (I took two from my local hsbc but have given mine away!Arrrggh - I just got them back from the auto banking centre in the central branch)- ~$40 cash rebate (since I terminated my asia miles program in the beginning of august)
2.Fortress:10,000 list price - $300 for upfront payment - $200 standard chartered discount with fortress (the so called 10%rebate)- $180 worth of miles
3.Wanchai computer city cash price $9,300
on the spot,i picked (3).
I didnt realise i missed out on 2gb $380 ram tho offered by broadway and fortress. But it's $700 discount now versus $300 discount +now,$200 later,$180 miles when i redeem the scb bank of miles in 2010 and $380 ram which i won't need until next year - (3)was easier to understand given my limited amount of time.
