有讀者問：在法庭上辯護律師為被告求情時常說被告有「正當職業」，它的英文是甚麼？
本來「正當」是Proper,appropriate,reasonable 的意思，例如「正當的行為/理由」是Proper conduct/reasons，「正當的要求」是Appropriate/reasonable requests 。但在上文的「正當職業」中的「正當」有「正派、正經」的意思，英文是Decent。例如：He has a decent job是「他有份正當的工作」，He is a decent man是「他是正當人家」。
它也有「像樣的、體面的、很不錯」的意思。例如：A decent hotel/restaurant是「像樣的酒店/餐館」，She has a decent wage/standard of living是「她有很不錯的工資/生活水平」，You can get quite a decent meal there without spending too much是「你不用花太多的錢就可以在那裡吃上一頓很不錯的飯」。
