[資訊分享] WDJ2008推薦狗糧

WDJ(The Whole Dog Journal)是北美最權威的一本育犬訓犬雜誌，因不接受廣告，只接受訂閱而能維持其中立及權威的地位。

每年WDJ都會針對市面上的乾狗糧進行評選，我將之摘要節錄出來，提供無法自行料理狗食的飼主另一種選擇。

市售乾狗糧品牌很多，WDJ的評選標準我認為值得特別介紹，當然，他們也不是像一般檢驗機構或有什麼試紙試劑去一一檢驗飼料，他們與一般飼主相同，針對包裝的標示成份去分析，並選出值得推薦的品牌。

看懂你家狗寶貝吃的是什麼食物的標示是很重要的，現在就讓我們來看看如何為狗兒選擇一個好的飼料吧！

底下就是WDJ的評選標準：

1.尋求含有大量高品質動物蛋白質的成份。
大部份的飼料並沒有標示用了多少百分比的肉、家禽或魚肉，而以總共含有多少動物蛋白質來涵蓋。所以WDJ以飼料中動物蛋白質比例愈高愈好。而通常成份是以重量來標示，理想中的狗食應該在飼料袋的前幾項成份標示中擁有一或兩種動物性蛋白質。

全肉（例如雞肉，牛肉等等）擁有很多水分，如果狗食的標示是以雞肉（chicken）而非雞肉粉(chicken meal)的話，而且在成份標示的前七或八名沒有其他的動物性蛋白質，那麼這個狗食實際上並沒有包含大量的動物性蛋白質。但如果它一開始是雞肉(chicken）及雞肉粉(chicken meal)或是其他動物粉，例如羊肉粉(lamb meal)等，那麼這個狗食就算擁有較多量的動物性蛋白質。而動物性蛋白質比植物性蛋白質更為美味且具生物相容性(bioavailable)，並提供更多的必需及非必需氨基酸(Non-essential amino acid)。

2.拒絕任何含有肉類副產品(meat by-products)或禽類副產品(poultryt by-products)的飼料。
WDJ認為要確認狗食製造商所使用的副產品的品質是不可能的，他們曾經與相關廠商訪談過，而廠商都信誓旦旦地說他們只使用最好的副產品來源，然而當被詢問到這問題時，他們總是四兩撥千金地如此回答。事實上，寵物食品廠商的副產品與全肉相比。品質相去甚遠，但是全肉的成本太高，所以他們才會採用廉價的副產品，然而這亳無道理可言。因此WDJ建議飼主應該避免選購含有副產品的飼料。

3.拒絕含有未被認可的油脂或蛋白質。
請特別注意飼料中動物性油脂(animal fat)的標示，因為它是只是低品質，低成本，不知用什麼來源的油脂的好聽的說法而已。
肉粉(meat meal)可能還比較實用些。

4.全穀及全蔬菜較佳。
也就是說，在飼料中的某些穀類及蔬菜扮演著重要的功能。而通常飼料中並不會很令人興奮地添加很多蔬菜或穀類，反而都是渣渣或副產品，所以在飼料的成份標示中出現愈多蔬菜渣渣種類或比例愈高，就代表它不是一個高品質的飼料。

5.排除所有的人工色素，人工香料或人工防腐劑。
一個健康的，高品質的狗食是不該只為了讓飼料嗜口性更佳，而添加任何不營養的添加物，如果真為了保存的考量，可以選擇天然的防腐劑保存，例如迷迭香，維他命A或C來取代化學的防腐劑。

6.排除所有添加甜味的狗食。
狗與人一樣，喜好甜食。而牠們是不需要這些無營養的垃圾食物的。

7.若含有機成份更好。
這點無庸置疑
